Why Is This Patient Involved?

Why am I personally interested? I am a patient at the surgery. I have seen the stress on the faces of the staff on the front desk and the confusion on patient's faces. This is a highly regarded surgery. They are a great team with wonderful support staff. They do not deserve this stress. As an individual I have asked questions about my own missing data, but in digging deeper more issues keep emerging which don't seem to have answers. Most disturbing of all are the large number of patients who are affected by all this, particularly those in pain or vulnerable.

My years of experience working with organisations to solve problems tells me that some people in key roles took their eye off the ball, others seemed blind to the fundamentals (patient safety), whilst those on the supplier side, have serious questions to answer.

As for this issue's presence on this website, it has more than peaked my professional interest. I have been researching community and communication, and how humans in groups attempt to problem-solve for over thirty years. This research has resulted in this website and the publication of the book Mastering Chaos: A Musician's Guide to Navigating Complexity.

I am wondering how can we encourage any leaders with responsibility for these problems to grasp the nettle and successfully facilitate us back to a centre-ground solution?
